Well, Dad has always said he was the KOAS (King Of All Studs), so for his 50th birthday we had to get him a crown! Since the weekend of his birthday was the same weekend as the Roots, Blues, and BBQ festival downtown, we spent Friday and Saturday evenings hanging out, shopping, eating bbq and kettle corn, and listening to good concerts. We heard Tab Benoit (one of our favorites), Blind Boys of Alabama, and the Music Maker Revue. After we were tired of wandering around downtown, we headed back to Josh and my's house for carrot cake and ice cream. And, yes, there were 50 candles on the cake! Happy 50th, Dad! We love you!
That's a lot of candles! It's good to be King! :)
They shut down a good portion of downtown. The main stage was at 8th and Broadway, and this is what the crowd looked like. It was funny to watch the street lights change colors like normal, but have the streets be absolutely PACKED with people. This was the first year, and it was the bank that put on the festival this year to celebrate their 150th anniversary. We're hoping someone else will pick it up and do it again next year because it was a great time!
P.S. This fun weekend and Dad's birthday actually happened September 7th & 8th, but I've been a little busy since then, so I just realized that I never put the pictures up! :)
