Priceless

3 bark collars... $100 each

1 Disturbing the Peace ticket...$216

Wooden privacy fence...$1700

A calm dog... PRICELESS!!

So, for those of you who know Isabelle, this will come as no surprise... but our dog is high energy, to say the least. She is a boder collie, with all the personality quirks (and then some) that the breed entails. She has limitless energy, intense curiosity, and a desire to herd anything that moves. At our old house, we lived in a duplex on the corner of a cul de sac. Our backyard was fenced with a chainlink fence, and had a street in front, a cul de sac behind, and another yard (with two dogs) next to it. With all of this activity, I never saw her relax. She would lay down, but her head was always up. The only time she really relaxed was when we put her in her kennel and covered it with a blanket at night. So when we bought our new house, a privacy fence was a must. And I haven't regretted it yet! With the new fence she can't see through or around it, and has so much less stimulation. She is much calmer and has time to relax. I think it was our best purchase, and that feeling was reinforced this week when I opened my bedroom blinds and saw this....
She was SACKED OUT! She never relaxed like this at the old house, and I can only imagine that it is better for her to be able to relax occasionally. I tapped on the window a couple of times, and she sat up, but even this look is a "Wha? YAWN... Me? Sleeping?" kind of look! It was so adorable!

She is so sweet! I love that she's laying on her back like that, all feet in the air, completely comatose.

We are feeling the pain of a see-through fence with our puppers. He is so overstimulated by the split rail fence that we HAVE to have here. I loved our privacy fence at our FL house - no barking at people, dogs, etc. He doesn't just chill out the way he used to. I think see-through fences are the worst idea for doggies. It just doesn't allow them to ever turn their minds "off"!
