Old Man Winter...

...strikes again! We had several more inches of snow last night. It's the good kind of snow: thick and wet, perfect snowball snow. And, obviously, perfect snowman snow. So we made a snowman. We didn't have any coal, so we had to improvise for the eyes and the mouth. But I think he's rather cute! :) We certainly had fun making him!

Truman thought that it might be fun to investigate the snow as well, so we tossed him up on top of the car. Then he wasn't so sure he wanted to be outside! There was much foot shaking, and he finally decided that under the car was the best place to be since there wasn't any snow there. Unfortunately, that meant we had to drag him out when it was time to go inside, which was quite traumatic for him. But, after some serious napping action on the bed upstairs, he seems to have recovered. Though he doesn't really want to go out anymore!!

Equal Treatment

Well, if I'm going to post humiliating pictures of me on the blog I may as well post humiliating pictures of Josh as well! These are pics of Josh snowboarding with his new toy! So here's one of the more entertaining runs he had...

But, in all fairness, he was actually pretty good, far better than I was! So here's a picture of a much better run.

I think I took about 2 tries at the snowboard, and both ended up like the top one. So I'm impressed that Josh was as good as he was! Guess a sense of balance helps a lot; too bad I don't have one of those!

Sledding

Because of the 2 inches of ice covering everything in Columbia, we thought it was the perfect time for some sledding! So Josh and I went and bought a sled to play with. Since we don't have kids, we thought, of course, that Miss Isa would want to go sledding with us. So Josh set up the camera to take "continuous" pictures (you hold down the shutter and it takes pictures as fast as it can, resulting in a kind of slide show of action) and I enticed the puppy onto the sled. I could tell you what happened, but the pictures speak for themselves! Enjoy...

Needless to say, Isabelle is not such a good sledding companion! We also bought Josh a snowboard...stay tuned for those entertaining pictures!

Ice Storm

Well, the winter weather certainly has been interesting this year! We had the 15 inch snow in December, and now we are in the middle of a 3 day ice storm. It started with rain on Friday, which quickly froze, which meant we got out of school at 1:15 (YAY!). It iced all night Friday, started again Saturday afternoon, and just started again (9:30 Saturday night), and is supposed to continue all though the night. The bummer is that it canceled our youth road trip to KC's Crown Center. But we will be rescheduling! Those of you who know me well, know I can't resist interesting weather! Thus the thunderstorm watching from the front porch and the walks we took during the 15 inch snow! I just think weird weather is fun... I'm glad I live in Missouri so I get to see a little bit of everything! Anyway... true to form, Josh and I were outside playing in the ice last night and again tonight. The pictures are from last night. They're not great because there was so much precip that my camera kept trying to focus on the droplets instead of what I was trying to take a picture of. We played soccer with The Bella, which was pretty fun because the soccer ball really flew! It wasn't too slick for us to run on the ice, it was more like snow, so we had a good time. As you can see against the porch light, it was really coming down. Truman sat at the sliding glass door and meowed to let us know how abused he was since we wouldn't let him out... but when given the choice he decided maybe he'd stay inside!

We spent the day today helping Dad out at the big Indoor Garage Sale, which is usually a madhouse... due to the weather today, it wasn't such a success; I think most of the buying was done by the other dealers that were there! It was still fun, and I dropped and broke my cell phone, so Josh and I ran over to the mall. Turns out I was eligible for an upgrade, and the phone I wanted was buy one get one free, so Josh and I both got new phones for $40, pretty sweet deal! Anyway, by the time we left the garage sale, the ice had started again. It is so cold that when we went to eat and were there for 30 minutes or so we still had to scrape our cars again before we could go anywhere! The ground is much more slick tonight, too... Josh and I borrowed Charlie's sled and we've been using it to "snowboard" down the little hill in our backyard. We tried hooking Isabelle up to it, but she didn't seem to understand "Mush!"

Anyway, it has already been quite the eventful winter... but so far we've made it through safe and sound. Hopefully the family in Springfield will have power again soon!

Obedience... of a sort!

So, you know your dog is too smart when she can rationalize your directions!

Well... this is a rug, so technically I'm on a rug!

Last Christmas

Well, we celebrated our final Christmas of the year... or is it the first? Either way, we celebrated Christmas with the Apostles last night. They are currently moving from Jacksonville, FL to Ft. Collins, CO with 2 other couples and random and assorted pets. The caravan of 6 people, 6 animals was supposed to be in Columbia last night... unfortunately, the U-Haul had a blow out near St. Louis. Fortunately, they made it to Ryan's to meet us anyway! We took over an entire corner of the restaurant and ate and laughed and told stories for a long time. Then it was present time, and the Apostles clearly cleaned up! Much like Christmas morning at my parents' house, unwrapping was loud and boisterous! Mike spent much of the time pelting us (and our presents, desserts, and drinks) with sprinkles, until he got his presents unwrapped. Then he decided to put on all of his presents, which made him look quite handsome (see the bottom picture). By this time, pretty much everyone else in the restaurant was staring, but Price's (and Apostles and Lootens) have never worried about being thought of as weird!! :) All in all, we had a great time celebrating with the Apostles, we're just sad to have all of the Christmases over!
