The King

Well, Dad has always said he was the KOAS (King Of All Studs), so for his 50th birthday we had to get him a crown! Since the weekend of his birthday was the same weekend as the Roots, Blues, and BBQ festival downtown, we spent Friday and Saturday evenings hanging out, shopping, eating bbq and kettle corn, and listening to good concerts. We heard Tab Benoit (one of our favorites), Blind Boys of Alabama, and the Music Maker Revue. After we were tired of wandering around downtown, we headed back to Josh and my's house for carrot cake and ice cream. And, yes, there were 50 candles on the cake! Happy 50th, Dad! We love you!

That's a lot of candles! It's good to be King! :)

They shut down a good portion of downtown. The main stage was at 8th and Broadway, and this is what the crowd looked like. It was funny to watch the street lights change colors like normal, but have the streets be absolutely PACKED with people. This was the first year, and it was the bank that put on the festival this year to celebrate their 150th anniversary. We're hoping someone else will pick it up and do it again next year because it was a great time!

P.S. This fun weekend and Dad's birthday actually happened September 7th & 8th, but I've been a little busy since then, so I just realized that I never put the pictures up! :)

Animals

I always take funny pictures, and never get around to posting them on the blog... right now I'm trying to decide what to do with the blogs, but, obviously there's lots going on on the baby blog. So I thought I would take a minute to put up some fun animal pictures (mostly of Truman because, let's face it, cats are hilarious) on this blog while I decide whether I want to combine the blogs... so, hope you enjoy! :)

Truman decided he wanted to come to the hospital with me!
It's hard to beat a good sunbeam!
Zebra... random, I know, but cute!
Bob REALLY thought he was going to be able to catch whatever this was.
Waiting for the bugs at the porchlight!
Truman really enjoyed the boxes for baby clothes!
And the bags!
This was the only place left to hide after the baby came home...

Burger-Flippin'

Thought this was a fun picture, even though Josh and I didn't get to be there! This is Josh's dad (obviously) flipping burgers for their church picnic. He made 360 hamburgers and 100 hot dogs! Makes our youth events seem like small potatoes! But it sure looks like he's having fun...

On a side note... if you haven't checked the Baby Blog lately (as in, in the last 12 hours) they are inducing me TODAY! So, hopefully, Elena's birthday will be September 12, 2007. Which is fun because it is actually 5 years to the day since our first date (the second time around). Anyway, more news posted here and there when I get a chance! :)

Visit

My big sister, Jessica, came home a couple of weekends ago to hang out (and see the belly). As busy as our lives are, we just drug her along with us on youth events! At least this was a low-key event, just putt-putt at Perche Creek. We also spent the weekend eating out, looking at baby stuff, and catching up on life for the last several months. It was great having her home, and I'm excited to see her again in a couple of weeks!

I'm not as good at taking pictures as Jess is, but here are a few that I managed to take

Ruth's creative way of carrying her golf club, and Mom's multi-tasking!
