Fun Day & Fun Pics

Ok, to start this post, a few pictures that I have been holding onto, needing to post!  They’re random, but they’re pretty cute!

Laney in her new princess tent, courtesy of her cousins in IL- one of her cousins saw how much she loved Princess stuff, and gave her this pop up tent!  She LOVES it!

On a side note, you can’t tell but Laney is buck naked in her tent.  Her new favorite thing is naked time after her bath.  Lots of cute pictures, but not many that I will post… we’ll just save them for blackmail later!

And, speaking of blackmail… Laney always feels so beautiful when she’s wearing Mommy’s headbands!

Moving on to today… today was kind of a crazy day, and I’m amazed that I am even posting so quick!  But I had some really cute pictures, and a little bit of time!  So, here goes!

I had a training (yes, I actually had teachers willing to train on a Saturday) this morning, and then this afternoon we had people over for the MU/KU football game.  In between, though, it was beautiful outside, so Laney and I headed out for some fun with bubbles while Daddy went to pick up CJs wings for our party!  And I decided to take advantage of the cute subject and bright lighting to try to play with some of the tricks I learned with my camera last weekend!

On to fun with bubbles…

Laney is actually getting good at blowing them herself.  Last year, she didn’t have the coordination!  Amazing how many little things change between seasons…

Every time she finished blowing, she’d look up and grin and giggle… so sweet!

DSC_0325 Just a shot of the full outfit… notice the princess shoes!  She was thrilled when I said she could wear them outside!

DSC_0335 After bubbles lost their appeal, we broke out the sidewalk chalk.  She drew something that was a turtle while she was drawing it, and a kitty-cat when she was done! :)

DSC_0361 Josh came home from CJs, and it was time for the game, but none of us really wanted to go back inside, and no one had shown up for our game watching party (it was very low-key), so Daddy joined us for some bubbles!

DSC_0374 Josh tried to teach her how to catch bubbles on the wand… she doesn’t quite have the coordination and/or finesse to manage it without popping the bubbles!  But she sure had fun trying…

DSC_0379 We did eventually go inside to start watching the basketball game, and we did have people end up coming over, so we had a really good time.  Minus the fact that it was a blowout (sure hate Kansas), we still had fun hanging out with some of the college kids from church.  Laney ended up napping through a lot of it, but that was probably a good thing!  It’s hard to watch a basketball game with a 2 year old.  Although, the constant question “Are you sure the blue guys are bad?” were pretty funny! :)

After her nap, she helped finish off some of the party snacks, though… she loves Oreos, and dipping them in milk.   So much so that she managed to get wet Oreo goo ALL OVER HERSELF… notice- on her nose, her forehead, her hands… It was nicely done!

DSC_0391 After the basketball game, we also took today to celebrate Sam’s birthday! He turned 16 a couple of weeks ago, and we just haven’t all been in town at the same time to celebrate!  So, today was the day- we had Kostaki’s pizza, salad, and some cookie cake!

Lighting the candles… apparently Sam & Ellen decided to wear matching shirts! :)

DSC_0394Grinning during the singing… Elena was pretty sure everyone was singing for her!

DSC_0395 Blowing out the candles… with Laney’s help, of course!

After the party, it was time for some good, old-fashioned hang out time with the family.  Laney grabbed Aunt Ruthie and made her get in the new princess tent!  Despite the fact that it was about 400 degrees in there (not much breeze) Aunt Ruthie was a good sport!

DSC_0401 Gotta love Aunt Ruthie!

DSC_0402Anyway, so there’s a few pictures from the last couple of weeks, and a lot of pics from today!  We sure have been having fun around the Looten house, just enjoying life and being busy as usual!  As soon as I get pics from Jess, I’ll go backwards and post from our trip to IL.  But these pics were too cute to wait on!  Hope you enjoy…
